No tax on winnings

In a legal online casino in the Netherlands you pay 0% tax on your winnings.

    How exactly does this work?

In the Netherlands, the casino pays the gambling tax (37.8% on gross gaming revenue in 2026). As a player in a legal casino with a KSA license, you keep 100% of your winnings.

This is a big difference compared to Poland, where you pay 10% tax on winnings above 2,280 PLN.

    Important for migrants: tax residency

If you live and work in the Netherlands, you are a tax resident of the Netherlands. This means that Dutch tax rules apply to you — i.e., 0% on winnings in legal casinos.

It does not matter what nationality you have. As long as you pay taxes in the Netherlands, your gambling winnings fall under the Dutch system.

    Comparison with Poland

In Poland you pay 10% tax on winnings above 2,280 PLN (approx. €530) and you have to declare this yourself. In the Netherlands you don't have to do anything — the casino handles everything.

    Warning: illegal websites

If you play on a site without a KSA license (illegal), you have to declare your winnings yourself. In addition, you have no protection whatsoever in the event of problems. Only play at legal casinos with a KSA license.
